Kathmandu witnessed a wave of excitement as Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt, accompanied by close friend producer-actor Rahul Mittra, arrived in Nepal for a culturally significant visit that blended spirituality, heritage exploration and public interaction.
The highlight of the visit was their pilgrimage to the revered Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thousands of fans and devotees gathered at the temple premises to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood star, turning the visit into a major public event and an organic promotion of Nepal’s heritage and religious tourism.
Prior to the temple visit, Dutt and Mittra were hosted for tea at the official residence of Nepal Police Chief Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki. They were later escorted to the temple under heavy police security, where both performed a special puja amidst chanting and devotional fervour.
The duo had arrived in Kathmandu a day earlier aboard a chartered Bombardier jet. In the evening, they inaugurated a casino operating at Hotel Barahi in the Thamel area and interacted warmly with fans from India and Nepal. Later that night, Nepal’s leading businessmen and billionaire brothers Nirvana Chaudhary and Rahul Chaudhary hosted Sanjay Dutt and Rahul Mittra at an exclusive dinner featuring traditional Himalayan delicacies.
Sanjay Dutt and Rahul Mittra’s Nepal visit underlined the positive role high-profile celebrities can play in promoting cultural and spiritual heritage on a global platform. On the professional front, Sanjay Dutt was last seen in the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, while Rahul Mittra recently featured in the critically acclaimed courtroom drama ‘Haq’, which is currently trending at number one on Netflix.
